Flight #5 Cleared for Takeoff

Sonezaki Atlantis Airport has officially been added to the tour as a 5th band. Compared to the first four, Atlantis Airport has a 'poppier' more accessible sound. Four bands is probably ideal for this tour but I felt the line-up might be too aggressive for those NMFT fans who prefer mellower bands like チーナ and Uchu Conbini. So I added Atlantis Airport to balance things out.

Atlantis Airport play 'math-pop' with minimal/phase-shifted piano motifs similar to mouse on the keys. The intricate basslines sound dirty and fat in a really good way. Though their proficiency as musicians isn't at the elite level of most "math" pop/rock bands, they are solid enough and their stage presence is centred around the charm and vocal dynamics of singer Sonezaki.

Joining Atlantis Airport as support guitarist for the NMFT tour is Jun from the math-rock band Marmalade Butcher. So at least the guitars will be arithmnasty. (note: different guitarist from the above video)

Atlantis Airport released one of my favorite CDs of 2014: "A[ ]Passport-EP+2" The remixes alone make the CD worth buying. Atlantis Airport are good friends with Uchu Conbini and fans of Uchu Conbini, Clammbon and School Food Punishment will probably dig Atlantis Airport as well. And if you like their music make sure to check them out on tour in June!!
